This month's issue of American Artist
Magazine has a wonderful article by M. Stephen Doherty
on American Artist Jean
Ranstorm. What struck me was Jean's comment "it
isn’t what nature delivers that guarantees artists
will create successful paintings". Now change painting
to photographs. She goes on to describe a situation
where many other artists were disappointed in a plein
air artists outing because it was overcast, but she
found a spot to create an intimate scene.
How often we might pass by a wonderful scene and not
see it, or capture it. It's really all about "seeing"
your subject.
Perhaps just a tree and some grasses.
