We are please to announce that on February 4th, 2007, will have the opening reception to my 5th annual show at the beautiful Perkins Mansion at 494 East Ave Rochester. This beautiful treasure will be a perfect backdrop for my latest portfolio. The Mansion is owned and operated by American Association of University Women of Rochester.

My latest portfolio, as well as additional pieces, will be hung in the living room, solarium and library. Please plan to join me from 2pm to 4pm that Saturday. Of course wine and hors d'oeuvres will be available.

This month's issue of American Artist Magazine has a wonderful article by M. Stephen Doherty on American Artist Jean Ranstorm. What struck me was Jean's comment "it isn’t what nature delivers that guarantees artists will create successful paintings". Now change painting to photographs. She goes on to describe a situation where many other artists were disappointed in a plein air artists outing because it was overcast, but she found a spot to create an intimate scene.

How often we might pass by a wonderful scene and not see it, or capture it. It's really all about "seeing" your subject.

Perhaps just a tree and some grasses.
