April 23, 2006 - On the Road
Last week I drove to Letchworth State Park to see if
the trees and grasses were far enough along to shoot.
Not yet. But it was still a beautiful day and it was
so peaceful to just relax and drive the park with the
windows down. The park should be about ready the first
of May.
I did take a couple of pictures of a stand of Daffodils
and some birch trees, but I think this was my only successful
artwork of the day. This print will be added to my spring
portfolio.
April 17, 2006 - The Old Railroad
Swing Bridge
Last Saturday, Joe and I went in search of some spring
photography.
At Durand Eastman Park, some of the Magnolias were in
full bloom. After that we wondered up to the Charlotte
area and took in the new water front area. The new bridge
and public docking area are beautiful. As always, I
am attracted to the old railroad swing bridge. It was
a lucky day for me when I found it accompanied by some
April clouds. The old and the new, set in harmony at
the mouth of the Genesee River in Rochester.
April 14, 2006 - Congratulations
Jim!
It’s always great to see a fellow artist and
friend in the spotlight. A long time friend Jim Williams
was commissioned to create the artwork poster for the
2006
Lilac Festival.
I’ve always enjoyed the wonderful color and unique
vision of his work. This makes his work so perfect to
represent our first, and colorful, Rochester area outdoor
festival. If you get a chance, browse
James Williams work here.
April 10, 2006 - Times Square
Built in the 30's, this wonderful building has become
one of the most distinctive features of the Rochester
skyline. I'm told that the sculptured wings at the top
are called “The Wings of Progress”, and
we are all hoping that Rochester continues to prosper
and progress. This 14x20 framed street shot of the "Times
Square" building taken on Sunday April 9th, will
become a featured image in my Rochester urban portfolio.
April 6, 2006 - wow - we made
it!
We got our first show acceptance for 2006 and we are
really excited. We have been accepted to Central
Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts in State College
Pennsylvania. It is consistently nationally ranked as
one of the top 10 shows in the U.S.A. The show draws
artists from across the country and is quite difficult
to get into. So we are honored as well as humbled at
being accepted.
We plan to do 7 shows this year, up from 5 last year.
