Historic Site Restoration - Part 1

This is part 1 of a series of articles on perserving historic landmarks through the use of digital photography.

Since 2004, we have been working with site managers, owners and developers to capture and preserve our heritage through digital photography and art.

Preservation of Historic Sites through Artwork

The purpose of our work is to present a vision of the past through photography and artwork. This combination merges historical fact with mood and presence. This is a powerful combination that invokes the emotions as well as records the place.

A simple example is the preservation of a turn of the century outdoor lamp fixture.

Several modern day components detract from this image, one of them is the litter next to the base of the pole, the other in the picnic table.

By converting the image to sepia tone, removing both of these distrations, and a adding a glow to the lamp, we create a soft glowing image that has feeling and emotion.
